Beauty Favorites | June 2014

I can't believe we are half way through the year already, it seems like just yesterday we were in January! While I usually struggle to narrow down my monthly favorites, the summer months are always really low product months for me.  I like to give my skin a break, especially in the heat, and layering on makeup when you're sweating can lead to some nasty breakouts. All that aside, I still have some goodies I've been loving this past month (sorry they're late).

1. Stila Lip Glaze in Apricot - In the summer I don't want to be applying anything too heavy on my lips because I'm usually not doing a 'full face' of makeup. I decided to give this little guys a go for just that reason. It gives you an amazing glossy finish and has the most gorgeous nude/pink color. It's my lip color but better. If you're in the market for an easy to apply lip product for days you just want a little extra something, this is worth a try. I'm definitely going to be trying out more of the lip glazes in the future.

2. NYX Dewy Finish Setting Spray - When I saw this I felt like the heavens were opening up. I've done a good amount of drug store beauty shopping and this was the first setting spray I've ever seen there. I knew I had to get it,and I have to say my expectations weren't that high. I'm a huge fan of the Urban Decay setting sprays, and I have gone through countless bottles of them. That being said, I have used this NYX one every single day since I got it. First of all, its about a 1/4 of the price of the Urban Decay ones, and its much easier to go to CVS on a regular basis than Sephora. But the product inside is really amazing. It keeps my make-up on all day and gives me a great dewy finish that I love. The only down side is that it does have a slight alcohol smell to it, but I haven't noticed any changes in my skin from it. Definitely a must have.

3.The Body Shop's Chamomile Silky Cleansing Oil - When I first got this I was a little hesitant. I know cleansing oils and balms are all the rage, but it seemed strange to me to rub oil on my skin and not break out. Once I tried this baby I was a complete convert. It is weird to rub oil on your face and no matter how much I use it I don't quite get used to it, but it really is a great product. I love the smell and its gentle on my skin while still managing to get all my makeup off. I used to be an avid make-up wipe user but I felt like they were drying out my skin and I was going through them really quickly. I've been using this oil every day for a month and I'm not even a quarter of the way through the bottle.

4. M.A.C. Bronzer in Refined Golden - This is an oldie but a goody. I don't usually like to use super shimmery products like this in the winter because I think they look a little too unnatural, but for the summer though, this is life. I use it to bronze and not to contour because it does have a gold shimmer. The orange/red undertones give your skin the most amazing bronzed goddess look. If you're super fair you probably won't love this product, but if you're slightly tan and even if your a deep olive complexion, you'll love this.

5. Maybelline Baby Lips in Quenched - Having a lip balm in my monthly favorites seems random I know, but it really is important to not only keep your lips hydrated, but protected from the sun. That's why I really love this one, it doesn't make your lips look overly glossy, and it doesn't have a really strong sunscreen smell. They have a bunch of different 'flavors' and colors, but my personal favorite is the clear one.

6. Fresh Black Tea Age-Delay Eye Concentrate - I'm always searching for a good eye cream, cause no matter how much I sleep, I can't seem to get rid of my dark circles, or at least I wasn't able to until I found this amazing product. I ordered some goodies from Nordstrom and they offered me some free deluxe samples and this was one of them. I was so surprised by how big the jar was that I got and I used it day and night for the entire month. Loving it is bitter sweet though because it does cost a whopping $85. I did completely love it, but I don't think I'll be repurchasing it anytime soon, just because that is much more than I can commit to for an eye cream.  If you are in the market for a high-end eye cream, this is definitely my number one recommendation because it really tightens and brightens the skin under the eyes.

7. Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream - This has been the only thing I've been using as a base on my skin all summer long. It goes on really light and gives a great amount of coverage for being a BB cream and not a foundation. It definitely does have a luminous finish so if you have oily skin or prefer a matte finish I would opt for the oil-free version. It also has SPF 15 which is an absolutely must for these sunny summer months!

4th of July | Quick Manicure

For holidays like the 4th of July, I prefer to do my own manicure, because I don't necessarily want to keep my nails painted that way for more than a few days. I decided to do a super quick and easy mini tutorial for all of you who feel the same way!

I went with red, white, blue and gold, and decided to add some glitter to make it fun. At first I attempted to do stars, but it became way too complicated so I opted out of them.

Step 1: Start out with freshly cleaned nails
Step 2: Use any base coat, I used Sally Hansen's 'Hard as Nails'
Step 3: Decide what color pattern you want, there is no 'right order'
Step 4: Paint each nail with one coat of your selected color
Step 5: Let your nails dry a bit before applying the second coat of color (this will prevent them from taking forever to dry at the end)
Step 6: This is of course optional, but for my white nail and one of my red nails, I decided to add some glitter for that extra pizzaz (any craft glitter will work)
Step 7: If you do add glitter, just sprinkle it on to the nail, dusting off any excess
Step 8: Follow with a clear top coat (I used Seche Vite), and you're good to go!

Products Used:
Sally Hansen 'Hard as Nails'
Seche Vite fast drying top coat
OPI 'Big Apple Red'
OPI 'Lights of Emerald City'
Essie 'Blanc'
Essie 'Strut your Stuff'
Essie 'Good as Gold'
Craft Glitter in White & Cherry

Top 10 Beauty Products Worth The Hype

In the beauty world there seem to be endless products that are hyped up, and a lot of the time it's difficult to decide whether or not their worth the purchase, or if it's all just smoke and mirrors. Here are my Top 10 picks for the beauty products that are most definitely worth the hype.

When I first heard about this I thought it was completely absurd to spend $20 on a sponge, but of course I had to, especially since it won the Allure Beauty Award for 2013. Let's just say it changed my life - yes, a sponge changed my life. It gives your liquid foundation and concealer the most gorgeous airbrushed finish. I would highly recommend it to anyone, regardless of if you have tons of brushes you love. Well worth every penny.

2. Benefit "They're Real!" Mascara
If my entire mascara collection disappeared and I had to choose only one to still be there, it would be this guy. Mascara is something I usually recommend saving money on and going drugstore vs. high end, but when it comes to the Benefit "They're Real" there is nothing that even compares. If you love the look of falsies without the actual falsies, this is the perfect mascara for you. It definitely isn't a volumizing mascara, so if that's the look you go for this might be something you don't like, but it lengthens and separates lashes like a champ, and because of that, it will forever have my heart.

3. MAC Eye Shadows
In general all MAC products seem to be pretty hyped up, but I think their shadows in particular. For $15 an individual eye shadow and $10 for one in the pan, its not like they're cheap. That being said, you are absolutely paying for a quality product. They are all so creamy and blendable, their pigmentation is amazing, and their color selection is like no other. I have no bad things to say about them whatsoever, and if you're just starting to build a makeup collection, don't feel like you need every color, just get a few you can really get good use out of.

4. Clarisonic Mia 2
I've been raving about this for months, and I will not stop. The Clarisonic has completely changed my skin, and I could never go back to living without it. If you have problematic skin, you've most likely spent twice as much as you would on the Clarisonic on other products that don't work. Invest in it, and see for yourself, your skin will never be the same.

5. Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette
The "Naked" palettes have some what of a cult following in the land of beauty, and it's for a good reason. Out of all the eye shadows that I've tried, Urban decay has some of the best. They pigmentation is out of this world, and they always give you such great color selection in all of their pallets. If I was to only have one eye shadow palette in my collection, I think it would be this one. The bronze hued nudes work so amazing with my skin tone, and I think they would for everyone. Treat yourself.

6. NARS Blush - Orgasm
This blush gives me life. I constantly find myself reaching for it over any other blush I own. It's perfect for summer and gives your skin the most amazing sun kissed glow. It has such a beautiful bronze shimmer, but nothing too aggressive that you couldn't use it on an everyday basis. It's more of a peachy-toned pink as apposed to a baby doll pink, so if you're on the super fair side, this might not be for you.

7. 'It's a 10" Miracle Leave in Spray plus Keratin
As soon as I realized I had spent $40 on this, I felt like a terrible person. But after just one use, I knew it was worth it. Drugstore haircare products are usually not the best, and it's hard if you have color treated hair to find something that isn't going to strip your hair dry. This product is AMAZING. Everyone needs it, regardless of what type of hair you have, you will notice how wonderful your hair feels after. It feels like I've repaired years of damage in a few weeks.

8. Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation
This is, in my opinion, the best foundation around. It's definitely not a bargain, but if you have a special occasion to go to, or you want to feel pampered, look no further. First of all, the line has a whopping 24 colors, which for a foundation, is amazing. It gives your skin such a beautiful luminous and dewy finish, it is to die for. Of course, if you're a matte foundation kind of a girl, this probably isn't for you. The coverage is medium, but buildable, so if you want to add some more to problem areas, you can, and it won't look cakey.

9. Batiste dry shampoo - Dark & Deep brown
Do I even need to say anything about this? If you know me, you know this stuff is like air to me, I can't live without it. I use it almost everyday, even on clean hair, and could never use another dry shampoo. The hint of color is amazing, and doesn't leave me with that awkward white cast in my brown hair. Seriously, you need this right now.

10. Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat
Nail polish is one of those things I think we forget about and kind of neglect, especially top coats. I've used hundreds of different top coats, and I wasn't really on the hunt for one that was amazing, but I found this and OMG. This is like magic in a bottle. It makes your polish dry so fast and leaves your nails shiny for so long. And I know what your thinking, 'Dahlia, are you insane? I am not spending $10 on clear nail polish,' and I get that, but really, once you go Seche Vite, you will not go back.

App of the week | Pact

This seems like a super random post, and it kind of is, but I thought it would be cool to share this with everyone. I recently heard about the 'Pact' app from a friend and decided I would give it a try. The idea is that you "get paid for living healthy, by members who don't." It asks you make a 'pact' with yourself about one or all of three things; going to the gym, keeping a food log, and eating fruits and veggies. You commit to a certain number of days you're going to go to the gym each week, a certain number of fruits and veggies you're going to eat each week, and how many days you will log all of your meals. The whole point is that you get paid a couple of dollars every time you complete your 'pact.' The catch is that when you miss a day, they charge you either $5 or $10 depending on which you choose. To make sure you aren't cheating the app tracks your location to make sure you really go to the gym AND you need to be there for at least 30 minutes for it to count. You also have to take pictures of your fruits and veggies and other people who use the app vote on whether or not they should count.

I've been making a huge effort to get in shape and start eating healthy so this app was right up my alley. I don't know about you, but I'm definitely not interested in paying $5 for missing either of the 3 things, so it's great motivation to keep myself on track. Even if you aren't wanting to be extreme and live a super healthy lifestyle, this app is perfect for you too. If you want to start out eating one fruit/veggie a week, or going to the gym once a week, you can do that too. It pays you to do the things you'd normally be doing anyways (or at least that you should be).   :D

My Shopping Philosophy | Being a Fashionista on a Budget

When it comes to shopping it can be difficult to decide how to spend your money most efficiently. Especially walking into any big department store, the choices can be overwhelming. I've gotten asked a lot, what my 'shopping philosophy' is, and that's what I'm going to share with you today. My motto is, 'I don't mind spending money, I mind wasting it,' and trust me, there is a difference. There are certain items worth the splurge, and some that aren't, but figuring out which is which can be tough. It's crucial to realize that you don't need to sacrifice quality or style to save a few dollars.

Breaking it Down

If you're anything like me, it can be hard to control yourself when shopping, especially when you feel like you need everything. Realizing that there is nothing wrong with treating yourself will help in the process. If you've been coveting an item, and you've thought about it for a while, don't feel guilty spending money on it. That being said, make sure it's worth it. A few questions I ask myself before any big ticket purchases are; Will I have this forever? Will I love this forever? Can I get something of the same quality for cheaper?
The number one thing I stick to, is not letting myself pay for a name on a label. Of course designer brands are wonderful, but when it comes to certain items their quality is no better than their non-designer counterparts. We no longer live in a world where quality is unattainable on a budget. I decided to separate the things I believe you should splurge on and things you should save on into two lists.
❤ ❤ ❤

Splurge

  • Jeans - Good quality denim will save you money in the long run, because it more often than not lasts longer. Get yourself 1 or 2 good pairs of jeans instead of 4 inexpensive pairs. Remember; quality, not quantity in this case.
  • Shoes - This could go either way, there are certain shoes you don't need to splurge on (sandals, sneakers, heels) but I think it's important to have one really good pair of boots if you live up North like I do. Cold months make up most of the year, and by investing in a pair that are good quality, you won't need to replace them every season.
  • Skincare - There are some skincare items you definitely don't need to drop big bucks on; toner, exfoliant, or masks, but I think investing in a good moisturizer is essential. Skin isn't like hair, you can't just cut it off when it gets damaged. And because of that, it's extra important to take good care of it from a young age. Moisturizing can make the world of a difference in giving your skin a youthful and healthy glow. I live and die by the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+.
  • Handbags - I was torn between whether or not to put this in the splurge or save category, but it ended up being a splurge. I don't think its necessary to have 10 designer handbags, but I do think there is something to be said for having one classic designer piece that you'll have for a lifetime. For trendy seasonal bags, save your money and shop at places like Forever21 or Asos, but treat yourself to a good timeless piece, in a style and color you know you can get use out of regularly.

Save

  • Basic Tees - I don't think there is absolutely any reason to spend $50 on a white t-shirt, regardless of if you're on a budget or not. Basics like v-necks and long sleeved shirts get worn out so easily, don't feel bad about replacing them every year. Place like Gap and Old Navy are my go-to stores for these essentials because they are both affordable and good quality.
  • Makeup - Drugstores are filled with amazing products, and the selection isn't what it was 5 years ago. There are tons great quality items for reasonable prices. Of course you can still buy brand name products from places like Sephora, but don't feel like you need to live beyond your means and restrict yourself to only high-end products. In my opinion, Ulta gives girls on a budget the best selection, combining drugstore and high-end under one roof.
  • Shorts - This may seem random, but because it is summer, and distressed jean shorts are super in, I thought I should add this one to the list. Save your money on these, and make them yourself. Go to a thrift store or second hand store, or even use a pair of old jeans you just aren't into anymore and cut and distress them yourself. It's a lot easier than it looks, and a lot cheaper then spending hundreds of dollars on a trendy seasonal item. I'll be putting up an entire DIY post on making your own shorts soon, so if you're interested keep an eye out!
  • Workout Gear - Now, don't get me wrong, I love Lululemon just as much as the next girl, but spending $98 on a pair of cropped workout pants isn't realistic for everyone. And for those of you who still want to look cute while getting your sweat on, there are plenty of affordable brands out there that will let you do just that. Kate Hudson's line, Fabletics, offers style and quality without burring a whole in your wallet. Athleta is another good option for those of you looking to save money without sacrificing style.
Ultimately, where you splurge and where you save is completely up to you, there really isn't a 'right' or 'wrong.' If you can afford to buy high-end products all around that's great, and if you can't that's fine too. Either way, don't feel bad. There is quality and style available for anyone on any budget. Remember, it's what makes you comfortable that's most important. What are your 'splurge' and 'save' items?

Make Runway Hair Wearable

Happy Friday Everyone!

I decided to do a different kind of post today and mostly just go for pictures instead of babbling on. I decided to show you some amazing hair looks I've been loving this season on the catwalk, that I think you could absolutely tone down and make your own. Don't be intimidated by volume, body, or color, remember, you can make anything fit your style.

1. This braided crown is seriously to die for. It is so chic and easy to do, and can be worn to any occasion with any type of hair. Especially with music festival season right around the corner, ladies, this is a must.

2. Don't let the purple scare you! you can add a small streak of color or dip dye ends with semi permanent dye to spice up your look. There are even super inexpensive colorful clip-in locks you can get from places like Claire's.

3. Beyond obsessed with this huge head of curls, if you think this look is too much, you can use a bigger barrel for looser ones and they'll still look amazing. I recommend the NuMe Classic Wand in 25mm.

4. Just like the other head of curls, this one is amazing, but maybe a little more wearable. Bobby pins are a girl's best friend, and you can use them to give the crown of your head less volume.

5. This twisty up-do is great for putting an edgy feel to a boring old bun. If your hair isn't as long and you don't think you could do this you could always use some clip-in extensions, or use smaller pieces of hair to make your own version. This is great for a casual look, and especially as it starts heating up and you want to keep your hair off of your neck and face.

6. This up-do is flawless. I love the loose wavy/curls around the face. This is a great summer look for girls who are trying to give their hair a break from being over-styled. Its great for any time of day, and can be either glammed up with a cute headband like this one or left alone for a more casual look.

7. I'm not always a fan of the the 'half-up half-down' look, but I think this is a really great way to do it. By teasing and adding texture to the hair, it's much more high fashion, and much less 'Sweet 16.' This would be great as a day-to-night look for those days you don't have time to do two separate hair looks.

Remember, confidence is all you need to pull off a look, don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and try something new, you'd be surprised how much you might like it!

Beauty DIY | Hair Mask & Deep Conditioner

Hair masks and deep conditioners are a great way to bring the spa home to you. And everyone knows no one loves beauty you can DIY more than yours truly! Here are two different recipes I've used that I found on Pinterest. Enjoy!

Hair Mask

Ingredients:
1 Egg
1 Avocado
3 Tablespoon of Olive oil
1 Tablespoon of Honey

Directions:
Blend all the ingredients together until the consistency is fairly smooth. Starting with the ends, massage the mixture into your hair and comb through. Clip hair up and cover with a shower cap to prevent creating a mess. Let your hair sit for 15-20 minutes, and then continue with your normal routine, shampooing and conditioning.

Deep Conditioner

Ingredients:
½ banana
½ avocado
½ cup yogurt
1 teaspoon of melted coconut oil
1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar

Directions:
Either in a food processor, blender, or with a hand blender mix the ingredients, until everything is combined evenly.  After shampooing, apply mixture to hair and comb through so there is even distribution. Let the mixture sit for about 15 minutes. Rinse, and continue with your regular styling routine.

Top 10 Beauty Tips & Tricks Every Girl Should Know

1. Eye drops are your best friend

They can be used for so much more than getting rid of redness. Put 6-7 drops into your mascara when its starting to dry up to give it a few more days of use or dip your eye shadow brushes into them before picking up your shadow to add serious color pigmentation and hold.

2. Don't be afraid to mix your products

Feel free to get creative with your beauty products.

  • If you are you going for a more subtle look but want more coverage than your BB cream provides, mix it with a pump of foundation. You won't feel like you have a bunch of product on your face, but you won't bee makes either.
  • Is your skin looking extra flawless but you don't wan a go bare faced? Mix some primer with your BB cream to even out that skin tone.
  • If you want to give your skin a nice glow for a special occasion, add a few drops of illuminator to your foundation. Just want a glow without a full face of make-up? Mix some illuminator with your moisturizer.

3. Greasy hair be gone

If you're like me and your hair gets greasy easily,  only put conditioner from the shaft of your hair to the ends, leaving it out of the roots and scalp. This will keep it from getting greasy the day after you wash it.

4. Dark circles hate salmon-hued concealers

Mix a salmon-hued concealer with the one you already put under your eyes, to coverup harsh dark circles with no fuss. If you don't want to go spend money on yet another concealer, salmon lip stick works too, just dab it under your eyes before you apply your concealer.

5. Lemon Juice is more than delicious

Suffering from dark elbows or knees? Cut a lemon in half and rub it on the areas your concerned with once a day; follow up with moisturizer and watch that darkness fade.

6. The microwave is a beauty tool

Microwave your body lotion for 5-10 seconds, making sure the oils don't separate and that it isn't too hot; this makes it work twice as well in combating dry skin, especially in these cold winter months.

7. Olive oil and laundry detergent? Yes please!

Use this mixture to deep clean and condition your brushes at home. The laundry detergent breaks down the oil in foundation, while the Olive oil keeps the brush hair conditioned and soft on skin. Make sure you reshape your brushes before you set them down to dry.

8. Bye, Bye puffiness

Freeze your used green tea bags and place them under you eyes to get rid of any puffiness. Allow  them sit for 5-10 minutes and watch them work their magic.

9. Butter your own body

While there are great body butters available in stores, the ones with good ingredients are usually pretty expensive. Go on any bargain website (I like Amazon.com) and order yourself some 100% natural and organic fruit or nut butters. Any combination is amazing, but I like to get Mango butter, Cocoa butter, Shea butter, Coconut Butter, Aloe Butter, and Avocado butter. Empty the containers into a large pot on low heat, melting each one slowly before adding the next. Once all the butters are melted together completely, put it in the fridge to chill. After it has cooled off for about 20-25 minutes, use a mechanical whisk and whip it up. You can put the new whipped body butter deliciousness into the original containers, and now you have a ton of great quality product, at a bargain price.

10. No shaving cream? No problem.

Shaving cream is one of those products you run out of at the worst possible times; like while your in the shower about to shave your legs. Don't fret though, there are tons of substations that work as well if not better. You can use some regular conditioner, baby oil, or my personal favorite, baby oil gel.

Love it or Leave it | LUSH Cosmetics 'Mask of Magnaminty'

I am always on the hunt for a good face mask, so I decided to try LUSH Cosmetics' 'Mask of Magnaminty.' I had heard great reviews about it and I have always been a very big LUSH fan so I went for it.

The 'Mask of Magnaminty' is defined by LUSH as  'a deep cleansing face and back mask.' The mask is made of China clay and fresh peppermint to get deep into pores, and clear blackheads. The mask also contains  aduki beans to exfoliate skin, vanilla to calm redness and honey to soothe.

I only used the mask on my face because fortunately I don't suffer from acne anywhere else, however, I think if you do have issues with back acne, this would work well. The mint gives your skin a nice tingly sensation and wakes up skin, giving it a nice glow afterwards. I found that leaving it on for 15-20 minutes while soaking in the bath worked best, because I was able to just relax and let it do its job without feeling like I was going to get it everywhere.

One thing I really like about it is that it is free of any harsh chemicals, dyes, and perfumes, and it wasn't tested on animals. The largest size retails for $24.95 and is well worth the price because a small amount goes a long way. Another added bonus is that when you bring in 5 empty LUSH tubs they give you a 'fresh' face mask for free. Unlike this mask, the fresh ones do need to be refrigerated.

I find that using it as a mask works well, but it can also be used to spot treat specific areas of concern on a more regular basis. I would recumbent using it between 2-3 times a week, depending on the severity of your blemishes and the sensitivity of your skin. Lately I've been leaning towards 3 just because my skin is freaking out for some reason.

Because it has no chemically damaging products it doesn't dry the skin, so I think all skin types would love this product. It leaves your skin feeling nourished and refreshed, which anyone could use; and by anyone I mean men too.

So after all is said and done, should you love this product or should you leave it?
YOU SHOULD LOVE IT

Beauty Favorites | February 2014

Before I get into the beauty products I've been loving this month, I wanted to let you all know that any products I mention can be found on my Luvocracy account for purchase. If you don't know about Luvocracy I would absolutely check it out. It's free to register and when you do you get an automatic 10$ credit, so you're essentially being paid for nothing. My January Beauty favorites are also available on my Luvocracy page, so go explore! Click here for goodies!

P.S. February wasn't a big make-up month for me, it was more about hair and skin care. <3

I rocked this polish all month long. It's been one of my favorites for a few years now and every time February comes around I fall in love with it all over again. It is the PERFECT red, and to this day I haven't found another polish that even compares. If you don't have this in your collection you absolutely need it. I love it for my toes year round, and when I tell you its the best shade of red ever, I mean it. You only need two coats and you're  ready to go.

An one who knows me knows I am a HUGE fan of NuMe hair care products. I think they are absolutely the best and well worth the price. A while back I did a big haul and got a bunch of hair masks because I've been trying to get my hair nice and healthy so I can grow it out. This month I was addicted to this one. First and foremost, they all smell amazing, and they make such a huge difference. My hair is dry from begin colored so many times, and I have noticed such drastic improvement in my split ends, and the texture of my hair - it's incredible. I have fine hair, but I have a lot of it, so it's hard for me to find deep conditioners and masks that don't make it greasy, so when I got my hands on this bad boy I was in love. If you're trying to improve the quality and texture of your hair, seriously just splurge and get this.

I have nothing but good things to say about this product. I am a HUGE Lavender fan, I can't get enough. This lotion smells better than anything I have ever experienced in my life. It is the perfect blend of Lavender and Chamomile. I lather myself up with this before bed and don't think I'll ever stop. The scent is just so relaxing and so luxurious. This specific scent is part of the 'Sleep' line at Bed Bath & Body works, and I believe their are either 2 or 3 other ones, so if you don't love Lavender the way I do, there are definitely other options to chose from

This one is definitely a bit of a splurge. Bliss products are so amazing that when I saw this I had to get it. I'm always on the look out for good moisturizers because my skin gets really dry in the winter but is also really sensitive. I got my tube in a kit with 2 other scents and this one was the first one I tried. It was really moisturizing and the scent was just subtle enough where you don't smell like a lemon tree, but you get little hints of it. I think having body butter in a tube is an amazing idea because since my nails are long, dipping my finger into a jar is just a nightmare. Like I said I do have sensitive skin, and my skin was not irritated at all by this product. I highly recommend it.

I got this as a present from my boyfriend's family in a set which was absolutely adorable. I have never really used any body products from Victoria's Secret before and was really pleasantly surprised with this one. I love it because it not only smells amazing, but it's low maintenance. its perfect for when you don't want to commit to an actual perfume, but you still want to smell good. I use it almost every single day, either before class or on my way to the gym. The scent lasts a relatively long time considering it's just a  body mist. I would definitely recumbent this to anyone who does want to splurge on perfume but wants to have a nice girly scent on a day to day basis.

At the beginning of the month I came down with a really bad cold and when I was in CVS getting some medicine I saw this baby and had to get it. I am a candle fiend. I love them so much, I quite literally can't live without them. There is constantly one burning in my room. This one smelled so amazing, and was so cheap I couldn't believe it. It's very very similar to the Bed Bath & Body Works one, however, I think it burns a lot quicker. The scent was perfect in that it wasn't over powering, but still made the whole room smell like vanilla goodness.

This is another hair care product I was in love with this month. Like I said, I've been trying to get my hair to grow and be healthy, so on a whim I decided to pick this up at my local CVS. I've always been a fan of Pantene products but I wasn't really expecting any miracles. I was wrong. This little bottle is like nectar from the hair gods. I use two pumps on towel dried hair at night and concentrate in on my ends and move it up towards the roots. It doesn't way my hair down or make it greasy at all. It gives my hair a nice shine, and makes it feel so soft, I can't even believe it. Every girl should try this out, its a serious steal.

This is an oldie but a goodie. Everyone and their mother seems to have this palette, and there is a reason- it's AMAZING. Urban Decay shadows are known for their blendability and pigmentation and the ones found in the Naked2 are no different. The array of colors are absolutely perfect for both girls who have huge make-up collections and girls who have small ones. The palette is so versatile, it lets you do so many different looks, day or night. It is a little pricy, but I think it is well worth the investment. The entire month of February I was obsessed.

Nail Polish Obsession | March 2014

The color I'm completely head over heels in love with this month is from the new Brazil collection by OPI, and it's called, 'Taupe Less Beach."

I can't say enough good things about it. I went to get my nails done with one of my friends about a week ago, and ever since I can't stop staring at the color. It is the absolute prefect shade of taupe and gray mixed together. It has gorgeous lilac undertones so it would compliment all skin colors. I HIGHLY recommend trying it out. I think it's the perfect transition shade from winter to spring, because it's still a neutral, but it isn't too dark. This color is everything.

And if neutrals aren't your cup of tea, I still recommend checking out the rest of the colors in the Brazil line because they are all amazing.

Fashion Rundown | 2014 Oscars

It has been way to long since I've last blogged and I am so sorry! As most of you know I am a full time student, and things have just been super hectic with exams and papers so I needed to take a little time off, but, I am back. From now on I'm going to be posting on Mondays and Fridays just because I think that's what is going to work best with my schedule.

With that being said, let's just jump right in to the AMAZING, and not so amazing fashion we saw last night at the Oscars. I was presently surprised to see the majority of the stars looking so gorgeous. I'm going to be giving you my picks for best & worst dressed of the night, and while the good were to die for, the bad, were just simply awful.

BEST DRESSED

Women

1. Kate Hudson

Kate Hudson wore Versace and literally made me emotional walking the red carpet. She looked so drop dead gorgeous it should be a crime. I loved every single thing about this look - her hair was perfect, the shall was phenomenal, make-up was to die for, accessorize were done superbly - I just can't even handle how flawless she is. I even want to go as a far as to say that this is one of my favorite, if not my favorite Oscars look EVER. #KateTheGreat

2. Lupita Nyong'o

Lupita Nyong'o wore custom Prada and of course looked like a goddess. This entire award season Lupita has been on point and every single one of her looks have been amazing. She has truly made a huge splash, not only in the film world, but the fashion world as well. Her skin tone is just so gorgeous she could wear any color and look to die for. I loved that she went for a softer look with the Robin's egg blue - it was so flattering and really appropriate because it gave her the opportunity to truly have her Cinderella moment. The accessories were also flawless. The headband was a perfect touch, and surprisingly age appropriate. Once again, Lupita killed it. She can do no wrong.

3. Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence wore Christian Dior haute couture dress, and being the face of the brand, no one was surprised by that. When I saw this I think I almost died. Putting aside the fact that I'm just so obsessed with her as a person, she looked so amazing it didn't even seem real. She wore red to the 2012 Oscars, and a lot of fashion critiques said she shouldn't have repeated but I completely disagree. I think the gowns are so different they can't even be compared. I love the fact she brought back the 'exit necklace' from last year.  And her hair was also amazing - all in all, just another fashion win for J-law.

4. Cate Blanchett

Cate Blanchett wore Armani Privé and looked flawless as usual. This woman could wear a trash bag and be voted best dressed. Beading was a big trend on the red carpet this year, but I have to say, Cate is the only one who got it right. From hair and make-up to accessories, she nailed it on all fronts. The nude was the perfect shade and didn't wash her out at all. Every time we see Cate I feel like she looks younger and younger. I have no idea what she's eating or drinking, but whatever it is, I need to get my hands on some. This dress was truly gorgeous and perfect for her to take home the Oscar for best actress in.

5. Charlize Theron

Charlize also wore a Christian Dior haute couture dress. Usually I would not pick someone who wore black to be on my best dressed list for the Oscars, just because it really doesn't pop or stand out - but - seeing this made me want to take back every time I had ever said that. Charlize looked beyond gorgeous. The detailing on the bottom of the gown was amazing, and the nude straps gave it that little oomph. What I love most isn't just the way the dress fit and looked on her, but the way she was accessorized. She completely killed it. LOVE LOVE LOVE

Men

Because the guys just don't get enough love on the red carpet <3

1. Jared Leto

Jared Leto in St. Laurent - words do not even describe how flawless he is. First of all, can we talk about the fact that he is 42?!?! When I heard that last night, I was beyond shocked. He looks like he's barely 30.  I am such a huge fan of his fashion sense, and I think he's one of the few men who isn't afraid of taking risks when it comes to what he wears. The cream jacket was a HUGE trend this year and I just absolutely love that he went for it. Not only was his outfit amazing, I was having major hair envy when it comes to his perfectly ombré locks. I love that he went for a crisp red bow tie instead of black and paired it with the handkerchief in his jacket pocket. Absolutely amazing.

2. Chris Hemsworth

Chris Hemsworth wore a David August tux, as is without a doubt one of the biggest hunks in Hollywood. However, he isn't particularly known for his fashion sense. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw how amazing he looked last night. With a face like that its hard to ever look bad, but I really thought the burgundy jacket and vest, made the look unique - something that can be pretty hard to do when wearing a tux. Unfortunately, it seems that his wife doesn't have the same stylist, because she looked a little less that amazing in Elie Saab.

3. Michael B. Jordan

Michael B. Jordan wore a Givenchy tux, paired with AMAZING gold-plated Givenchy shoes. While he hasn't really been in the spot light for that long, I think its so great that he looked so impeccably dressed last night. He was another one of the boys who wasn't afraid to break that traditional black and white tux look and go for something a little more fashion forward and edgy. I loved the shoes, and I especially loved the stars he had pined on the collar of his shirt. Love it all.

4. Matthew McConaughey

Matthew McConaughey was another man who was dressed to the nine. Wearing Dolce & Gabbana he went with the cream jacket trend, and nailed it. Unlike Leto, he kept it a little more classic, which I think was a good choice because he did after all win the Oscar for best actor. With his drop dead gorgeous wife as arm candy, he did it all right. Also, incase you didn't see how much of a MILF his mom is, go goggle what she looked like last night because you will die

Honorable Mention:

Kristen Bell

Kristen looked so cute in Roberto Cavalli and was totally channeling her inner 'Frozen' Princess. Really liked this look <3

P!NK

During her tribute to the Wizard of Oz, P!NK looked amazing. Such an appropriate dress for the occasion. She was like a little ruby slipper - loved it.

WORST DRESSED

1. Whoppi Goldberg

There are no words to even describe this atrocity. I don't know what the issue is that Whoppi has with getting dressed but she really needs to either hire a stylist or fire the one she currently has. With the resources available to her looking like this at the OSCARS is unacceptable. She was definitely trying to go for the look Julia Roberts did at the Golden Globes, but it just wasn't working for her. First of all, that shirt looked like it had yellowed from being so old, and the fit did her no favors. The look was disheveled and unorganized. She was trying to be Julia, Dorothy, and Madonna, all in one outfit and it DID NOT WORK.

2. Giulianna Rancic

This one really saddens me because I usually like the things I see Giulianna in. She decided to wear Paolo Sebastian Couture and looked more like she was auditioning for the adult version of Toddlers&Tiaras rather than going to the Oscars. I think the dress in itself was awful - the tool was was too over powering for a woman of such a small frame, the detailing on top looked ill-fitting, and the color washed her out completely. I also think that her hair and make-up added to my negative feelings towards this look. The tight slicked back bun made her face looked oddly shaped and that awful nude lip made her look sick. Sorry G, better luck next time.

3. Viola Davis

Viola Davis in Escada, was very lack-luster. I thought the color was okay, but the cut was really unflattering. Her shoulders looked even broader that usual, and the folding of the satin over her belly made her look with child. I really hated the hair and the accessories. It looked like she was wearing hand cuffs instead of the diamonds, and I think the Gatsby inspire finger curls aged her. The drop waist was a poor choice in my opinion for a woman of her body type. I think it made her look boxy and disproportional. Overall I was definitely not a fan.

4. Penelope Cruz

Penelope girl, why? She wore Giambattista Valli Couture, and I was really disappointed with this. She looks like she's wearing bed sheets draped around her body. As one of the most beautiful women in the world, it was such a shame she did this to herself. Her body was completely overpowered by the amount of excess fabric on her, and it made her look like she was another star who was expecting. Definitely a poor choice, hopefully next year she makes a comeback. I believe in you P.

5. Liza Menelli

Where do I even start with this hot mess. Liza Menelli followed in Penelope Cruz's footsteps apparently, going for the 'bedroom couture' look. However, she just decided to just wear her silk pajamas to the Oscars. Like really Liza? Really? With the amount of money this woman has, she could have hired someone to make her look amazing. But instead, she looked messy, and it was completely inappropriate for her age. The blue stripe in her had and those earrings, paired with her orthopedic shoes were just so wrong, it pained me to look at her.

6. Pharrell Williams

If there was ever a time to wear  tux Pharrell, this was it. The Oscars are not the appropriate event to get creative with your LANVIN tux and go for capris instead. I thought he looked really poorly styled, and his date was just as bad. For someone with such a interesting style, this was very disappointing. He tried to push the envelope too much, and it just wasn't happening. The black tux is a classic look for a reason Pharrell.
